Craig has approvingly responded to my submissions in response to West Burt mail for Millennium Forum discussion by finidng the general tone of my findings of the disocurse analysis/text analysis as part for the findings
of my Ph.D work on " A study on cognitive representations related to the concept of World Citizen" submiitted to University of Delhi in September 2000. You have found my tone reonciliatory. Craig had give me a 17 page
reponse and I had no time to respond to that.However through e-mail we paace with each other.There are some diagreements and I wish to substantiate my argument against the attempts for creating an approving climate of opinion/information environment by presenting the following text:

Salman Rushdie, Taslima Nasreen ; liberal Muslims/Cultural Muslims, and,the civilizational struggle between the world of free expression and the world of Islamic Absolutism

Respected Sir,
Congratulations for a representative article on Islam and intolerance. Taslima Nasreen and Salman Rushdie are that products of a thought process which is irreverent and hence seek change in Qur'aan, which for
all the believers in Islam is a revelation of Allah {God or Nirgun Brahmm ( I choose to spell Brahmm for the Nirguna, the eternal and the absolute that is same as the self definition of Allah in Qur'aan to whom all the rishis prayed and for whom all the prayers should be reserved.
This content in the inner parenthesis is being added on 14/8/99)} .Qur'aan cannot be changed (n time repetitions for the believers in Islam). People seeking change in Qur'aan need to change themselves for a better world and for better men-women relationship at this pint of the
history of human civilization and in all the time to come. People who are demanding a change should also look into the despair anguish, desperation, alienation, suicidal intimations, anti-life,anti-Allah/God, anti-woman, anti-children, anti-future, anti-men and anti-human expressions in the mainstream and sub-cultural products of the secular irreverent West and their enthusiastic and ignorant collaborators in the East.

Let us also compare the death sentences of Salman Rushdie and Taslima Nasreen and the suicides of the Nirvana Lead singer Kurt Cobain and Petra Kelly & Gert Bastian, the ex- leaders of Greens (Die Grunen) in Germany . The death sentence has been declared by the millions of people
around the world who feel that the acts of Salman Rushdie and Taslima Nasreen deserve death sentence. Are not we defenders of democracy? Is not it better to kill a dangerous "virus" than let it replicate causing
damage to the health of dignified men and women believers in Islam?
Taslima Nasreen wants that women should rape men and perhaps get 'bobbitted' as well .The act of Lorene Bobbit wife of John Bobbit has been described by the women organizations as a postmodernist response to the chauvinistic machinations of a pulverized society. The society, which condemns the utterance of Taslima Nasreen and acts of Lorena Bobbit, is not pulverized. (Repeat this n times). However ,the society which glorifies Michel Foucault , Salman Rushdie and Taslima Nasreen is
certainly on the verge of getting pulverized to the constancy of the inorganic mass and eternal damnation.

Coming back to the world of flesh and bone to which both Kurt Cobain and Petra Kelley belonged let us always remember that they committed suicide to convey a message to the posterity. All the suicides have a social message to convey. They are expressions of protest against the society,
which could not take care of them. A lot of suicides can be prevented. The execution of Salman Rushdie and Taslima Nasreen may contain the fires of hidden protest, which led to the suicide of Petra Kelley and suicide of Kurt Cobain. The death sentence for Salman Rushdie and Taslima Nasreen need to be understood comprehensively for the sake of
posterity of our children who need to be protected from the anti-women,anti-men ,anti-God, anti-human utterances of Salman Rushdie,Taslima Nasreen and Michel Foucault.

A Calcutta based newspaper has placed Salman Rushdie and Taslima Nasreeen along with the great's of the past and our recent past. I saw these in the Bangladesh embassy with the help of press minister Mr. Mofakkarul Inam and wondered on the extensive expansion potentials of the author of the piece of historical importance. It is really appeasing
to the forgotten British subjugated psyche of our close ancestors who had very few paradigm shifters of any reckoning. The point I wanted to make however is to justify my placement of Taslima Nasreen and Salman Rushdie alongwith Michel Foucault and let me add two more for now
Marquis De Sade and Fredrick Nietsczhe whose works are to be read for its information value rather than for normative abidance. Anti-God Michel Foucault declared /wagered that "man will son disappear like a face drawn in sand at the edge of sea". Man is alive. Women are alive and according to Quraan they have been created form the same substance. Had Foucault said anything against Islam causing damage to Muslim body and the soul of Humanity then he would have also attracted death sentence. He was dreaming about perpetual sadomasochistic indulgence in San Francisco bars for his "limit experiences". He died suffering AIDS.
I hope and pray that people are saved {(especially in the academia and the students in the disciplines under Humanities exposed to his works) the inner parenthesis added on 15/8/99} from his dangerous anti-human,anti-God, anti man, anti-women, anti-eternal happiness and abnormal utterances and insinuations. Denunciation of Michel Foucault is an affirmation of manhood for me. Taslima Nasreen and Salman Rushdie deserve a place alongside Michel Foucault and those akin to him. They may endanger the survival of the human species if they are not denounced
in a perpetual drone. (Repeat it n times). The suicides of Kurt Cobain and Petra Kelley have been extremely painful for me. Let us be thankful to eternity in our acts of denunciation.

Islam is certainly not intolerant. It is a perpetual struggle for being on the straight path. Muslims who make a resolution with God try to do justice to THE RESOLUTION. ISLAM DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE BARRIERS OF RACE, SEX, LANGUAGE AND HERIDITY. A MUSLIM SEEKS HIS/HER SALVATION IN
LIVING UPTO THE RESOLUTION. MICHEL FOUCAULT DESERVES SEVEREST DENUNCIATION FOR HIS APPROPRIATION OF HIS SADOMASOCHISTIC AND HOMOSEXUAL INDULGENCES. Le Figaro, a French newspaper carried a full blank page to mourn his death. (James Miller, The Passion of Michel Foucault.Harper
Collins 19993 pp.133).

The Time Magazine editor has been quoted in the article on 'Islam and Intolerance' for understanding Taslima Affair "as a civilizational struggle between the world of free expression and the world of Islamic Absolutism". I know about the world of Islamic Absolutism whose
constituents are spread all over the world -from the followers of the Nation of Islam to the followers of Al-Arqam in Malaysia who do have a socialist Utopia to be realized for a better world. They need to be
understood in the same way as the neuroscientists and
neuro-psychologists are trying to understand the process of decoding the brain areas for moral judgement, so that we may know better the art of blaming and later after understanding that we may feel that the execution of John Wyne Gacy, the serial killer, who was executed by
lethal injection in Illinois last May (read about the same in Newsweek sometime in 1994) was probably faulted by the society for wrong reasons, because, according to the Claudia Wallis, may be, tendencies of "sociopathy" exist in the specific codes in the brain areas.

World has to understand Islamic absolutism in the same way. Claudia Wallis does not have any moral qualms in suggesting the way for dealing with the psychopathic genes /codes in the identification of such codes in the brain areas. "Another possibility-prenatal test-abort the
psychopath". Let us look at the sense of ease of Claudia. Abortion is the choice for which pro-life Pope John Paul and the elders in the American Family Association have the severest denunciation. Time editor
should understand the difference between himself and the elders in
American Family Association before finding straightjacket category of
civilizational struggle for Taslima Nasreen Affair. Atheistic irreverent
world of free expression is different from the theistic and reverent
world of free expression in Islam {(free expression for doing science
finding new ways of doing things and processes. This can be done with
faith in the oneness of Allah/God/Nirguna Brahmin and
reverence/denunciation of the good/bad deeds of elders in the present

There is a difference between the culture of prayer and thanksgiving and
the culture of relentless search for "pleasure" and "happiness" in here

Dignity and then succeeding in capitulating American Psychological

social and world order need to dissociate from them.

There are alternative ways for protecting the women, blacks and the
Native American and other analogous political minority formations across
the continents. This can be done without putting on the postmodern
hat/label and carrying the flag handed over by Foucault, the most
misguided soul of 20eth century in the field of philosophy, social
theory, literary theory. Le Figaro's management should do something to
redeem its honor besmirched by its anti-children, anti- men, anti-women,
anti-future, anti existence, anti-family, anti-nature ,anti God/Allah/
nirguna Brahmin, anti-Christ (PBUH), anti-Shiva(PBUH) anti-Vishnu,
anti-Buddha, anti-Mahaveer, anti-Muhammad (PBUH) anti-arch-conservative
act of putting up a blank page for mourning his death} the middle

for the images of void.

Postmodern "West" is different from the reverent Christian "West". For
German intellectuals who are asking whether there is valid cultural
entity called WEST,Mr.Rudolf Borchart is offering "German spirit that
would give the world a conservative revolution" (Asian Age article
with arrangement from a respected German newspaper sometime in August
1994) . The Time editor and Mr. Rudolf should understand the content of
such a conservative revolution would not be actualized without
denouncing the Michel Foucault's appropriation of homosexuality as a

Dear Sir I have lost page no. 4 of the manuscript of the letter that was
to be sent to you. Hence I would like to start with page 5. I however
guess that it started with describing the imagined angst o the birds
over the expanding human habitats. I had done many drawings contrasting
to the need of safe habitats for the birds and then apparently
insatiable need of the nation builders for increasing the number of
skyscrapers. A Newsweek story sometime in 1992 reported the plans of
the different countries for building skyscrapers. Some of those may
have been realized by now and many architects carry on envisioning more
skyscrapers.

Birds could not do and cannot do much to protect their life space. Birds
can hardly contest the impregnable skyscrapers. Skyscrapers cannot be
normative living space for the billions of human beings. Tasleema
Nasreen's atheistic worldview has the sustainability value of the
skyscrapers and skyscrapers are not sustainable compared to the huts,
the eternal living space for the grass and earth based people across the
time clime on the spaceship earth. Tasleema Nasreen and Salman Rushdie
need to surrender and apologize to the millions of human beings
believing in the certainty of Islam and to those who are attempting to
get out of /exit from the world of chaos, uncertainty and confusion.

Let us save our children by denouncing those attitudes , which have been
denounced by the family respecting conservative ancestors and
elders/youths/men and women protesting in USA and Bangladesh. Let us
celebrate the right acts of denunciation. Attempts to destroy Islam are
suicidal (extremely painful in both temporal and eternal sense). It is
like disrupting the order of Cosmos, and, (of the apparently/supposedly
expanding universe of the space scientists some of whom were present in
the recently concluded UN conference called UNISPACE 99 held in June for
discussing the modes of international cooperation for the peaceful use
of the outer space…added on 15/8/99).

Millions of lives are more important than the lives of two individuals.
Let us also fight against the possibilities of more and more people
getting imprisoned, raped, contaminated, afflicted by the virus of AIDS.
Lets save people from AIDS guerilla Michel Foucalt. Flowers will bloom
brighter and brighter. Birds will sing sweeter and sweeter. Children
will have a better and better world. Let's work for a better world by
denouncing irreverent, anti God, anti-man and anti-woman Michel Focault
and those alike him in the past and the future and in our very much
alive present- a point for celebration, denunciation and affirmation and
- a point in the history of human civilization. We are a point as well
as a horizon for the incoming transforming moments of future of
ourselves and for others and most importantly for the children of 40eth

and mothers. Serbs must withdraw from the territories they have captured
after raping Muslim women. I could have been awful to Mohtarama Dusanka
Djoga, the President of the Young Socialist of Serbia, which is the
youth wing of Socialist Party of Serbia. I had a conversation with her
-sweet and casual. It was really fortuitous that I should meet them. I
met them on June 29, 30, 1994 at FICCI, Auditorium, New Delhi, on the
occasion of a International Conference of Non- Aligned Youths and
Students on "Economic Sanctions and People's Rights". I had to manage a
very difficult emotion.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ABSOLUTISM OF THE "FREE EXPRESSION" AND, THE
ABSOLUTISM OF FREEDOM IN ISLAM (TIME EDITORIALS ISLAMIC ABSOLUTISM).

Religious ideas have been predominantly considered to have stultifying
effects on the creative potentials of the human beings. It is assumed
that all the religions have, in general, considered to have had an
irrational understanding of the world in the light of the new
understanding of the world, people and the cosmos. Social constructivist
approaches to understand the ascent of divinities have received wider
currency. Creationist conservatives are shown to be buffoons in
neon-lighted rooms of the majority of scientific laboratories and their
counterparts in social sciences, who while singing paeans to the
atheistic scientism have been celebrating the denunciation of
creationism, in the process; letting us have Vaclav Havel, the Czech
President say in 1994 that "God is dead, but man is still alive, if not
too well".(Asian Age.1994)

The rebellion against the system gave us wonderful products to consume
to the extent, that product got populist and the producer like Kurt
Cobain had to commit suicide. Nobody could save him. He considered
heroin to be the medication for his stomach pains, and despite so much
of popularity for his anguished musical renditions and cries, people
instead of reaching out to him, danced his music for visceral catharsis.
People adored Kurt Cobain living in the heart of "world of absolute free
expressions for his powerful rendition of his
personal/political/cultural anguish. There were few fans at his grave.
People accepted the version that it was success, which killed him,
because it was unexpected. He had a disturbed childhood. His parents got
separated.

Tasleema Nasreen and Salman Rushdie have received severest denunciation
because freedom in Islam must have limit of reverence for and abidance
of certain basic principles of Faith in One and Only One God. THE
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ABSULUTISM OF THE POLYTHEISTIC AND ATHEISTIC FREE
EXPRESSION AND THE FREEDOM IN ISLAMIC ABSOLUTISM IS REAL. WE NEED TO
HAVE REVERENT UTOPIA FOR THE SAKE OF ETERNAL FAMILY AND FOR THE SAKE OF
CHILDREN. FUNDAMENTALISTS NEED TO BE CALLED FOR INTERNATIONAL
CONFERENCES ON PEACE, ENVIRONMENT, HUMAN RIGHTS, CHILDREN, YOUTHS AND
WOMEN. THEY CANNOT AND SHOULD NOT BE SIDELINED IN POSTMODERN TIMES.

If the fundamentalists are described as sociopath, then the proponents
of absolute free expression in Ayn Randian scheme of things and in the
Time Magazine Editor's scheme of things are the worshippers of images of
void, in the sense that they do not see any possibility of the closure
to the limitless space. The world of human imaginations has a limit. In
the same way as the world of absolute free expressions has a limit. We
have our limited lives too.

Science and technology is for the betterment of human lot. International
institutions and governments in a world have realized the
interconnectedness of the equations of happiness and equations of
suffering lately. Nations enamoured by the developmental utopia has to
do a serious introspection. We need to revise and refresh our lessons in
the history of human civilization, history of ideas reverent as well as
irreverent. Is not the scientistic utopia too demanding on the reverence
for the ancestors who did whatever they did, whatever they could; as
they though fit for their definitions of happiness and survival
equations? We have gone in persistent denunciation of the ancestors and
their belief systems for their world, which was littered with the
stories of expansionist/defensive war, but was certainly less mortally
threatened than the irreverent modern/postmodern world. Pre-modern world
was reverent. Modernity celebrated irreverence. Michel Foucault inspired
post modernism is diabolically irreverent and is frighteningly ridden
with the images of void. Post-modernism in the Foucaultian "Order of
things" is gospel of destruction of the vitality of man/woman. Richard
Rorty, a follower of Michel Foucault extorts the philosophers to decry
any claim of Truth. Hence Truth claims are taboo in post-modernism. In
Quran Allah swears in Sura Al-Asr:

"By the time , Human being is severely in great loss, except those who
believed and did good works and, exhorted one another to the Truth, and
exhorted one another to Patience and Constancy" - Quran. 33:67-68

Richard Rorty exhorts that philosophers should denounce Truth claims.
Time itself is a creation of God. The end closures to the expanding
space are also creation of God. God is the Truth. Richard Rorty
denouncing Truth claims denounces God. Richard Rorty is
anti-God/Allah/Nirguna Bahma. For social constructivist believers in God
it has been understood as a construct/concept and then constitutive of a
false consciousness. God is not the Father/Mother. The assumptions
behind the social contructivist approach has not been challenged by the
dominant interpreters of social dynamics of the human beings.
Scientiscism is about such a pledge of denunciation of an eternity,
which evokes thankfulness and appreciation for the compassionate and
merciful Allah. In post-modernism, however, there is no need to carry on
a belief or disbelief for a long time. Post-modernism is about the
heterogeneous cultural discourse. Islam is to be looked in the glorious
space offered by the post-modernist producers of Roland Barthian
'jouissance' which justifies the unjustifiable appropriation of the bare
breasted portrayal of a mother like figure of Mughal queen Noor Jahen
who never appeared in public bare breasted. What do you do with such
'jouissance'? Kill this for an aesthetics, which allows respecting your
mother as she was signing lullabies when you were a child.

We are the children enjoying the savings of our ancestors. Must not we
save for the future generations of children in say 40eth century. What
kind of ancestors are we? Swallowing all for our skyscrapers.
Skyscrapers need to be put in the eternal museum. Let us at least plan
for it, and let the schizophrenic, heterogeneous, chaotic, uncertain
post-modern expressive space realize the dream of putting the
skyscrapers in the MUSEUM OF ETERNAL VOYAGE. Birds will be happy and
children will be happier as they will have more space for play.

Did you listen to their cries? Did not you listen the cries of the
world? Did not you listen to the dying cries of Kurt Cobain? You did not
listen. He could have been saved. I am listening to his agonizing cries-
to the self… To the self… To the self… He returned to the self quite
often. I blame his mother in the International Year of Family, for
neglecting her child. Kurt Cobain committed suicide leaving his
two-year-old son. He sang about his personal anguish, which has
tremendous implications for the people who are concerned for the destiny
of human civilization. People who care for children in 40th century. He
sang "Rape me, Rape me, my friend. I am the only one, I am the only
one…2. Rape me my friend, Rape me again, I am the only one, Rape me
(Repeat 12 times) " .Why did he wanted to be raped again and again? Did
he commit suicide because he was raped too much ! Not quite, in the
literal sense of the word as he had a difficult childhood with parent
who separated and it was too painful.

In UK the legislators have reduced the age of consent from 21 to 18. Gay
activists wanted 16. Bosnain Muslim/cultural muslim women had been raped
in the "ethnic cleansing" littered stories of Bosnia Herzegovina. Some
of the followers of Foucault hoping to get "limit experiences" in
sadomasochism were staging the rape of Bosnian muslim/cultural muslim
women. Outraged children/youths/elder men and women in Belgium organized
a demonstration (according to the letter of my friend Dirk Boeckx).
Transnational Radical Party launched an international campaign for
appealing UN to establish Tribunal for war crimes in Bosnia Herzegovina.
I wonder if there was any follower of sadomasochistic Michel Foucault as
one of the campaigner for such a tribunal for war crimes (New York Times
October 31 1993). Eternal damnation for such sadomasochistic followers
of Michel Foucault and those alike him. Foucault was a man whose genetic
code has disappeared without leaving any son/daughter. He was a sick man
with a gift of gab. He wagered too much on his own soul/body. He died

Mr.Vaclav Havel, The Czech President and winner of Philadelphia Liberty
Medal in his article "God is dead, but man is still alive, if not too
well" (Asian Age/New York Times, July 11, 94) is feeling unhappy for the
western attitude for the "post-communist" countries, feeling unhappy for
the post-modern conditions and he must be disgusted to learn that "new
post-modern world" has a reality of exploiting of 100,000 women from
westernizing European part of CIS as sex slaves for post-modern
irreverent believers in free sex and free expression of sexual
preferences. What are the goals of self-transcendence for such an
irreverent secular post-modern "West". Majority of Muslim's hate this
and must have their severest denunciation for what is happening in the
irreverent, secular and post-modern "West".The West has to be dissected
for the children of the 40eth century. Tasleema Nasreen and Salman
Rushdie must surrender to people's court for a perpetual indulgence in
reverent denunciation.

BIRDS, SKYSCRAPERS, HUTS, ARTS/TEXTS &CHILDREN OF THE 40ETH CENTURY

Birds are losing their space. Their angst/despair/cries for the
postmodern world are not being flashed out on highways of INFOBAHN.
Weitze Lise, my friend from Holland/Netherlands is not sure whether our
world of free expression and Islamic absolutism will survive 21st
century. Joseph Mubiru, my friend from Uganda and related to restored
Kabaka (equivalent Bugandan word for King) thinks that Islam is the
religion of future. A skyscraper as form of living space is not an ideal
form compared to huts and mud brick houses. Arts/texts has to be
understood for social implications. Personal is political at any moment
in the history of a person and the human civilization. The vital
interests of the children of 40eth century have to be protected. The
horrifying visions of nuclear holocaust generated the search for
ET(extra terrestrials). The project for Search for Extra Terrestrial
Intelligence (SETI) also gets justification in images of void laden
terror of nuclear holocaust. Let's stretch our temporal and spatial
imagination to include the vital interests of 40eth century. Let us even
use hated Goebblesian technique to memorize this ( Repeat these n
times).

For the monumental ignorance of Tasleema Nasreen, Salman Rushdie,
sadomasochistic Michel Foucault, Fredrick Nietszhe and Gilles Lipovetsky
author of 'The Era of Viod' and 'Empire of Ephemeris' and for the vital
interests of the children of 40eth century free from the sadomasochistic
indulgence, an attempt must be made to understand the eternal empire of
Islam transcending all the barriers of time and space. Islam of all the
messengers( also called prophets) spread all over the world in the
history of time and space. Vaclav Havel's dedication to the "Anthropic
Cosmological Principal" and "Gaia Hypothesis" has such a significant
intimation of Eternal Time/Islamic spaces.

Mr.Havel is reflecting on the questions raised " with the particular
urgency by the two most important political events in the second half of
the 20th century: the collapse of colonial hegemony and the fall of
communism". For his "chaotic and confusing present in the postmodern
times the feeling is " as if something were crumbling, decaying and
exhausting itself, while some thing else, still indistinct, were rising
from the rubble". Let the authors of chronicles in 40th century in the
post-digital era of eternity have some pleasant moments of celebration
of reverent denunciation/life/existence.

Lets look into the anguish of Vaslav Havel, elders in America Family
Association and the "Fundamentalists" of Bangladesh .Salman Rushdie
likes to call fundamentalist elders/youths/children of Bangladesh "the

like Kurt Cobain, Petra Kelly and Gert Bastian. Salman Rushdie should be
executed for the protection of eternal family values/community values
and for the children of the 40eth century. It is important to understand
the ways of dying as much as it is important to understand the ways of
living, ways of producing the arts/texts, ways of denouncing and the
ways of seeing for the better health of the children of 40th century.

4.5 The immediate cause for the organization of the following concepts
came about as a result of a critical encounter on the terms of cultural
criticism between the researcher and Juliet Reynolds who wrote a
critique to my letter that was published in the Pioneer May 23 1993.
Until that time the researcher had a belief in the epistemic relativism
where one is supposed to denounce any truth claim to be absolute and
final statement in ethics, aesthetics and epistemology in philosophy,
psychology, sociology religion or any other domain of the scientific
social and philosophical inquiry. Also there was need to organize the
propositions from the different kinds of wrings of the crisis, hope
related to the social, cultural and political and economic order. It was
an attempt to get out of the chaos. It was attempted to have clarity. It
was an attempt to have an opinion. It was an attempt to form an
understanding of the cognitive mechanism. It was an attempt to have a
predictive device. It was as the title shows, an attempt have the
understanding of the basics and the fundamentals. It was an attempt to
have a conceptual organization for denouncing the relativism of
postmodernism for the deeply personal self and of course for the other
co-travelers on this planet too. Most importantly the conceptual
organization was to be presented to the Department of Psychology ,
University of Delhi as a dissertation for a degree of doctorate of
Philosophy in Psychology. The chapters had not been written and
researcher's term in the hostel was coming to an end and there was no
hope for getting an extension as per the rule. Something had to be
offered to the supervisor.

What follows has the original structure done in August-September, 1994.
Some propositions were added in August1999 for the considerations of
descriptive justice. The organization of the concepts in the following
provided the researcher a sense of accomplishment, contentment and
achievement. It was as if one had found the goal. It was very much true
in the case of the researcher, as the researcher had been wallowing in
the zone of probabilistic and moral uncertainties. It was a moment of
reunion with the framework for moral-ethical judgement that had been
severely damaged by the atheistic, Marxist and the postmodernist humbug.
It was a real AHA experience for the researcher. It appeared as if the
longstanding prayer to the Almighty for making a contribution to the
human welfare has been answered. For the researcher there was hardly
anything else that was needed from the Almighty for the as a person on

Following is a communication on the prohibition of the use of intoxicants

Salamun Alykum.

The Quranic ruling is precise and simple. It is the "intoxication" we need to avoid. If any drink or food does not have "intoxication" effect on us, it is not a bad provision. If the cigarette smoking does not have "intoxication" effect on us, it is not a bad provision.

There are various factors such as weight, type of drink, type of smoking, food consumption, etc that determine the level of "intoxication" .

When people are intoxicated, they do not know what they are saying. The Quran precisely defines the "intoxication" :

[4:43] O you who believe, do not observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) while intoxicated, so that you know what you are saying. Nor after sexual orgasm without bathing, unless you are on the road, traveling; if you are ill or traveling, or you had urinary or fecal-related excretion (such as gas), or contacted the women (sexually), and you cannot find water, you shall observe Tayammum (dry ablution) by touching clean dry soil, then wiping your faces and hands therewith. GOD is Pardoner, Forgiver.

Any food, drink or smoking which has mental blocking effect is a bad provision. For example, a piece of tobacco when chewed could have mental blocking effect on some people and according to the Quranic standard it could be a bad provision for him. Grape juice is a good provision. But, when this juice is processed and turned into a substance which can block our mind and prevent us from understanding, it becomes a bad provision.

[16:67] And from the fruits of date palms and grapes you produce intoxicants, as well as good provisions. This should be (sufficient) proof for people who understand.

Intoxicant is a bad provision. It is Satanic.

[2:219] They ask you about intoxicants and gambling: say, "In them there is a gross sin, and some benefits for the people. But their sinfulness far outweighs their benefit." They also ask you what to give to charity: say, "The excess." GOD thus clarifies the revelations for you, that you may reflect,

[5:90] O you who believe, intoxicants, and gambling, and the altars of idols, and the games of chance are abominations of the devil; you shall avoid them, that you may succeed.

[5:91] The devil wants to provoke animosity and hatred among you through intoxicants and gambling, and to distract you from remembering GOD, and from observing the Contact Prayers (Salat). Will you then refrain?

Intoxicant is a bad provision. An example is given:

[22:2] The day you witness it, even a nursing mother will discard her infant, and a pregnant woman will abort her fetus. You will see the people staggering, as if they are intoxicated, even though they are not intoxicated. This is because GOD's retribution is so awesome.

Intoxication is Satanic and because of this, people in heaven will not experience it:

[37:41] They have deserved provisions that are reserved specifically for them.
[37:42] All kinds of fruits. They will be honored.
[37:43] In the gardens of bliss.
[37:44] On furnishings close to one another.
[37:45] Cups of pure drinks will be offered to them.
[37:46] Clear and delicious for the drinkers.
[37:47] Never polluted, and never exhausted.

[47:15] The allegory of Paradise that is promised for the righteous is this: it has rivers of unpolluted water, and rivers of fresh milk, and rivers of wine - delicious for the drinkers - and rivers of strained honey. They have all kinds of fruits therein, and forgiveness from their Lord. (Are they better) or those who abide forever in the hellfire, and drink hellish water that tears up their intestines?

The drinks available in the kingdom of Satan (earth) can have toxic effect. On the other hand the drinks available in the Kingdom of God (heaven) do not have toxic effect. So, we need to avoid drinking something which has toxic effect.

[5:90] O you who believe, intoxicants, and gambling, and the altars of idols, and the games of chance are abominations of the devil; you shall avoid them, that you may succeed.

Intoxicant is not a good provision as we understand from the following verse:

[16:67] And from the fruits of date palms and grapes you produce intoxicants, as well as good provisions. This should be (sufficient) proof for people who understand.

The following verse (2:219) explains why intoxicant is not a good provision.

[2:219] They ask you about intoxicants and gambling: say, "In them there is a gross sin, and some benefits for the people. But their sinfulness far outweighs their benefit." The above verse (2:219) states that there is a gross "sin" in intoxicant. The following verse (5:91) explains why there is a gross "sin" in consuming intoxicant:

[5:91] The devil wants to provoke animosity and hatred among you through intoxicants and gambling, and to distract you from remembering GOD, and from observing the Contact Prayers (Salat). Will you then refrain?

The above verse (5:91) states that the devil wants to distract us from observing the Contact Prayers with the help of intoxicant. The following verse (4:43) explains how intoxicant distracts us from observing the contact prayers.

[4:43] O you who believe, do not observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) while intoxicated, so that you know what you are saying. Nor after sexual orgasm without bathing, unless you are on the road, traveling; if you are ill or traveling, or you had urinary or fecal-related excretion (such as gas), or contacted the women (sexually), and you cannot find water, you shall observe Tayammum (dry ablution) by touching clean dry soil, then wiping your faces and hands therewith. Please note that the verses (5:90) and (5:91) above give us understanding that devil wants to use intoxicant as tool to misguide human beings. So, in the Quranic context consuming intoxicant harms us when we commit "sins". So, "sin" is the after effect of "harm". In the translation of verse 2:219 above, the word "harm" might be more appropriate than the word "sin", since, the meaning of "harm" is the opposite of "benefit". The following translation of 2:219 by "Progressive Muslims" conveys this understanding.

"Progressive Muslims"
They ask you about intoxicants and gambling. Say: "In them is great harm, and a benefit for mankind; but their harm is greater than their benefit." And they ask you how much are they to give, say: "The excess." It is thus that God clarifies for you the revelations that you may think.

We can appreciate the wisdom of God when He uses the very straightforward verse and very strong word "prohibition" for certain foods but not for intoxicant. Undoubtedly, intoxicants have some benefits as we know from medical science. The Quran does not prohibit intoxicants. The Quran only discourages its consumption and the reasons are given clearly by God and His messenger.

[2:173] He only prohibits for you the eating of animals that die of themselves (without human interference) , blood, the meat of pigs, and animals dedicated to other than GOD. If one is forced (to eat these), without being malicious or deliberate, he incurs no sin. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

[3:7] He sent down to you this scripture, containing straightforward verses - which constitute the essence of the scripture - as well as multiple-meaning or allegorical verses. Those who harbor doubts in their hearts will pursue the multiple-meaning verses to create confusion, and to extricate a certain meaning. None knows the true meaning thereof except GOD and those well founded in knowledge. They say, "We believe in this - all of it comes from our Lord." Only those who possess intelligence will take heed.
